Our Process
At Kitchens with Zest we work with you every step of the way to ensure your dream kitchen will be one you are proud of for many years to come.
We understand that the process of designing and purchasing a new kitchen is a big decision. The kitchen should look great for a long time, be functional and work for each person or family’s individual circumstances.
We start off the design process with a design consultation with one of our experienced team members. We will need room plans or dimensions, such as architect drawings, as well as any pictures of kitchens, details or styles you like, which will give us an idea of what you would like to achieve. This may be conducted here in our showroom, or on site depending on your needs.
During the design consultation we will ask you lots of questions about how you use your kitchen to ensure that we create a design that works perfectly for you. We will discuss how much you cook and what sorts of meals you like cooking. Do you bake? Do children use the kitchen? Do you want to socialise and entertain in the kitchen? Is the kitchen used for other activities such as children’s homework or parents’ office area? Do you prefer to store your plates and cups in drawers or in cupboards? How much pantry space do you need and what type of appliances will you have?
These are just some of the questions we will discuss to make sure we understand your requirements. Understanding the way you use your kitchen is imperative in order to create a truly bespoke, practical and beautiful kitchen which works for you.
During the first design consultation we will also discuss budget, the project timeline and answer any questions you may have.

Concept and Design Consultation
After the initial design consultation*, it takes one to two weeks to design your kitchen within our specialist drawing programme, request pricing for worktops and specialty items, prepare your plans, elevations, 3D renders and quotation ready for presenting to you.
The presentation of your kitchen will take place here at our showroom, so we can show you material samples, colours and joinery examples. During the presentation of your kitchen, we will go through the plans and elevations and talk you through the proposed design as well as going through the quotation specifications for your kitchen.
We will continue working with you to make any changes to the plans until a final plan and set of specifications have been reached.
Once you have made the decision to commission the kitchen and paid the deposit, we will start the process of booking install times, ordering materials and detailing the kitchen for production.
*Supply of quote and plans for your kitchen space has a design fee of $280 + GST, this will be invoiced following your initial consultation.

Design
Once we have confirmed all the measurements (by way of a site measure) and any other details, the production of your kitchen can start!
All our kitchens are made in our factory and every item will be manufactured to the specification in your accepted quote.
The production process of your kitchen takes approximately 5-6 weeks before it is ready for installation in your home. Sometimes depending on material availability or production lead times, it can take longer. This will be discussed with you in our presentation meeting.
Our factory only uses quality materials, and we stand behind our workmanship and materials with a 10-year warranty.

Manufacture
The installation of a kitchen takes on average 1 week. We start with installing the cabinetry, so the kitchen is ready to be templated for the benchtop if necessary. Benchtops are either installed at the same time or up to 14 working days following installation depending on bench top material.
After the benchtops have been installed, the plumber, electrician and flooring trades can now connect the sinks, taps, appliances and install the flooring. Our installer may need to come back to finish any joinery installations or toe-kicks.
Your kitchen is now ready to be used! Enjoy!
